Senziwani Sikhosana, chief executive officer of Zimbabwean financial services firm Bard Santner, has been named the 2026 Director of the Year in the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME) category by the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IoDZ), in recognition of his leadership and contribution to the growth of the business.
Sikhosana was honoured for what the IoDZ described as “exceptional leadership, strategic vision, an unwavering commitment to corporate governance, driving organisational excellence, and creating sustainable value within his organisation.”
The award places Sikhosana among a growing group of African business leaders being recognised for building companies that seek to combine commercial growth with strong governance and long-term value creation.
His recognition comes at a time when Zimbabwe’s financial services sector is undergoing significant transformation, with businesses increasingly looking for alternative investment products, sophisticated treasury solutions and access to capital as the economy navigates currency volatility and broader regional economic pressures.
Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Harare, Bard Santner is an emerging financial services firm with interests spanning asset management, corporate finance, treasury bills and wealth management.
The company has also expanded its operations into areas such as money remittances and commodity trading, positioning itself to serve a diverse range of clients across Zimbabwe’s increasingly complex financial and investment landscape.
Under Sikhosana’s leadership, Bard Santner has established itself as a player in Zimbabwe’s financial services industry, while pursuing opportunities linked to investment, capital mobilisation and cross-border business.
Sikhosana’s profile has also been boosted by his role in facilitating international investment interest in Zimbabwe. Last year, he was instrumental in bringing Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote to Zimbabwe, in a development that generated expectations of significant new investment into the country’s economy.
Dangote’s investment interest, reported at more than US$1 billion, has been viewed as potentially significant for Zimbabwe as the country seeks to attract foreign direct investment, expand industrial capacity and unlock opportunities in sectors including mining, energy and manufacturing.
The engagement with Dangote highlighted the role that Zimbabwean business leaders and financial intermediaries can play in connecting the country to Africa’s deep pools of private capital.
For Sikhosana, the IoDZ award adds to his growing reputation as an executive operating at the intersection of financial services, corporate investment and business development.
The Director of the Year recognition also underscores the increasing importance of corporate governance within Zimbabwe’s private sector.
