DODOMA: TANZANIA has reinforced its position as a regional hub for good governance after receiving a 25-member delegation from Somalia for a specialised capacity building programme.
The programme, aimed at enhancing public service delivery, focuses on human resource management, service supervision and efficient grievance handling mechanisms.
Speaking while welcoming the delegation, Minister of State in the President’s Office (Public Service Management and Good Governance), Mr Ridhiwani Kikwete said the visit reflects international confidence in Tanzania’s peace, stability and administrative reforms.
“The core objective is for the Somali delegation to learn how our systems operate, particularly in human resource management, service supervision and the mechanisms used to effectively address citizens’ concerns,” he said.
Mr Ridhiwani noted that reforms under the sixth phase government have significantly improved how citizens interact with government institutions and access public services.
He said enhanced digital systems have transformed service delivery, reducing the need for public servants to travel for approvals, loans, or administrative processes.
“Through established digital platforms, officers can now access services remotely from their duty stations,” he said.
The minister added that ongoing reforms have strengthened citizen-government communication, improving efficiency and transparency in service delivery.
Acting Permanent Secretary and Deputy Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Xavier Daudi, said the delegation will be taken through key operational areas including government structure, egovernment systems and modern records management practices.
He said Tanzania’s well-developed administrative systems continue to attract learning visits from across East Africa and beyond.
Earlier, Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Public Service College (TPSC), Ernest Mabonesho, who is coordinating the programme, said the training stems from cooperation agreements established in 2025 through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He noted that the programme reflects Tanzania’s growing role in shaping professional public service standards across the region.
